Mission:

Latta High School’s mission is to provide a sound curriculum, appropriate facilities, knowledgeable personnel, and a safe environment so that each student may develop to his/her fullest potential in order to become an integral, contributing, self-reliant member of a globally diverse society.

Vision:

Stakeholders at Latta High School—the administration, faculty, staff, community members, and students—will encourage academic excellence across the student body. We will aim to develop students into independent thinkers and learners who are ready to compete in a global society and able to respect and collaborate with people of diverse cultures. We will provide students with the educational atmosphere needed to promote literacy, encourage problem solving, and prepare for post-secondary experiences. Stakeholders will work to ensure that students who graduate from Latta High School are morally sound, responsible citizens who will be productive locally, nationally, and internationally.

Beliefs:

that the lifelong educational process as well as the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the child

depends upon a shared partnership among family, school, community, and the individual.

that family and community educational values are crucial to the academic development of the child.

that the teacher is the most compelling influence in the educational environment.

that each individual is capable of developing problem-solving skills that produce independent thinking

and learning.

that each individual, when given access to a safe and secure environment, is capable of being an active

participant in the learning process.

that student participation in extracurricular activities (JROTC, Fine Arts, FFA, athletics, etc.) enhances

the student learning experience, promotes self-esteem, encourages positive risk-taking, and enriches the

lives of students and the community as a whole.

that each individual is unique and deserves respect but is expected to take responsibility for academic

success, a safe school environment, and his or her future.

that technology skills are a vital part of educational development and an integral part of the classroom

setting.

that literacy across disciplines is necessary to promote success.

that collaboration, recognition, and respect among cultures is an important aspect of preparing students to

be successful in an increasingly global society.
