The energy and enthusiasm of its staff and students characterize Annapolis High School. The climate of the school empowers students to excel in a positive learning environment created by its hallmark program known as T.E.A.M. Days. Over 100 dedicated and student leaders lead this annual full day program of student prepared and presented workshops for over 600 participants. .

Annapolis High School offers 21 Advanced Placement courses, the most offered in Anne Arundel County. Student AP test scores consistently place the school among the top three schools in the county. The average SAT scores of students are consistent with federal standards for schools with rigorous academic programs and are above county, state, and national norms. Annapolis boasts five commended students as well as eight Maryland Distinguished Scholars. In 1999, Annapolis was one of only five high schools to receive honorable mention in the state Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

The school is engaged in a project to create a Nature Trail and Learning Center for the entire community in cooperation with Anne Arundel County Parks Department. Students have undertaken the challenge of creating theme murals in all of the school lavatories to re-enforce the commitment to the environment. Science classes are engaged in controlling soil erosion and in starting model watershed areas and habitats for local fish.

There is a school wide writing program to promote writing skills across the curriculum. Similarly, the school has created an enhanced environment for reading with its new Reading Café in the media center. Annapolis High is slated to receive 300 new Pentium computers with school-wide internet access over the next three years to complement the 250 plus computers currently in use.
