History:

Clark High School opened in 1978 and prides itself on maintaining the highest standards in one of the most dynamic, demanding, and forward thinking areas in the bustling Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Clark High School is a ninth and tenth grade high school that draws a diverse student body from across the sprawling suburban city of Plano, TX. We are one of five 9/10 schools feeding into three senior high schools. Clark's enrollment has continued to grow and diversify with a current student population of 1350. Within our walls, we house a sizable special education population, a large gifted population, and an at-risk population. In our twenty-four year history, we have successfully managed to change with the times, evolving as a staff, student body and community.

In this vein, Clark has come to see change as an ally, tailoring our mission to manage the many transitions our students make as newcomers to the rigors and trials of high school in the shifting and progressing public school of the twenty-first century. As students move through Clark on their way to the larger and sometimes imposing senior high school, we work to equip each student with the skills we ourselves have acquired in managing the most of change. From discipline management, to theatre and band trips, to ROPES courses for our at-risk students, Clark seeks consistently to foster student-centered relationships, curricular and extra-curricular activities that aid in the maturation and education of our students.

In the face of increased and diverse enrollment and staff turnover and attrition, Clark has prided itself on continued academic excellence. We have been recognized as an outstanding and exemplary performer for four of five years by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and have received the U. S. Department of Education's prestigious Blue Ribbon Award.

A positive learning environment at Clark assures maximum education and social growth for all students. Educational success is assured through dynamic teaching, involved parents, and administrative leadership.
