Our mission is to support all students in becoming knowledgeable, skilled, and socially responsible citizens.

Each student will learn at high levels of achievement

The current Clarke County High School was built in 1987 under the direction of the school board and former Superintendent, Wade Johnson. Over the course of its nearly two decade history, CCHS has distinguished itself as a regional, state, and national leader in academics, activities, and athletics.

Academically, CCHS has risen in stature thanks to its implementation of the International Bacculaureate (IB) program. Student participation in this program has brought CCHS to the top of regional and national high school rankings printed by the Washington Post and Newsweek magazine. Clarke County High School continues to be the only secondary level school in the Shenandoah valley that offers the IB program. CCHS is fully-accredited by the state of Virginia and meets or exceeds the annually measurable objectives mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act.

Athletically, CCHS has become one of the premier programs of its size in the state of Virginia. Clarke County High School athletic teams have been recongized at the district, regional, and state level for their excellence. The 2004-2005 school year represented the athletic program's most successful year, bringing four state championships and the coveted Wachovia Cup (awarded to the state's three most successful high school athletic programs) to CCHS.

Clarke County High School boasts high quality visual and performing arts programs. The CCHS Eagle Band and Drumline routinely receive recognition in local and out-of-state competitions. Students in the CCHS Concert and Varsity Choirs have been named to elite district and state level choirs. Student work from the high school fine arts department has been displayed and appreciated in the school and community for many years.

By embracing the vision that all children can learn and acheive at high levels, Clarke County High School has and continues to give all of its students the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in life. CCHS's staff will continue to pursue this vision and to do whatever is necessary to ensure learning at the highest level for every child.
