Croom High School serves all communities south of Central Avenue in Prince George's County, Maryland. In 1965, Croom was established as an alternative school with a vocational emphasis. During the 1998-99 school year a new administration, the program at Croom took on a new emphasis. The administration and staff at Croom High School adopted the Blended Instruction model. to facilitate "blended instruction," Croom joined forces with Career Connections and became a High Schools That Work site. At Croom, technology is considered a key tool for student success and is integrated throughout the instructional program. The student population ranges in age from 16-21. All students who apply for admission to Croom High School have had great difficulty in the "regular" high school setting. The alternative environment at Croom is one of the few options in Prince George's County Public Schools for this at-risk population.
