Thomas Alva Edison once remarked, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work.” Edison has a tradition of seizing opportunities and working hard to help its students achieve excellence and pursue their dreams and goals. Located in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, Edison is a reflection of the community with over 50 countries and 47 languages represented in its student population. The staff is committed to every student who enters the doors and recognizes that the students have a varied set of learning needs and interests.
The school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma, IB Certificates for individual courses, and the IB Middle Years Programme. One of 5 schools in FCPS with an academy on site, our Edison Academy provides classes on technical skill development, trades, and work-force readiness. Individual needs are accommodated through special education, English for speakers of other languages programs, and advanced courses in all disciplines.
