About Us:

George Rogers Clark High School is a thriving high school in the heart of the Bluegrass that has achieved the coveted state School of Distinction for 2015 and 2016.  As the only public high school in Clark County, Kentucky, GRCHS has an annual enrollment in grades 9-12 of between 1,600 and 1,700 students.

The school opened in the fall of 1963 at 620 Boone Avenue with the consolidation of Clark County High School and Winchester High School.

The new facility, which includes a beautiful enclosed courtyard, a state-of-the-art area technology center, and a 600-seat auditorium, opened in the fall of 2013 on Boonesboro Road. The class of 2014 was the first to graduate from the new facility and also was the school's 50th graduating class.

GRCHS is placing priority emphasis on college and career readiness, providing more opportunities for students each year in the academic, arts and vocational realms. Blended-learning classrooms, innovative scheduling and project-based learning are a sampling of the 21st century strategies used to enhance education.  The school has a distinguished record in academics, vocational training, related arts and athletics, and is preparing to break ground on a new gymnasium and athletic complex.

George Rogers Clark surged from a state focus school in 2010 to School of Distinction in 2015 and 2016.  Behind the back-to-back distinction rating, which is historic for our district, is a school of innovation and ingenuity that boasts several creative approaches to education that have broken ground in our part of the state.
