Information on:
Greater Latrobe Junior High School
Greater Latrobe Junior High School is located behind the Senior High School complex, and from its vantage point, it overlooks the village of Youngstown and the Chestnut Ridge. The circular complex houses over 1,200 seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students. It is divided into three houses by grade level with a spacious, well-appointed library at its center.
A full range of academic offerings stresses the importance of developing writing and speaking skills. An articulated mathematics program measures performance at national, state and local levels through the use of assessment standards.
The Sciences allow for acceleration and stress hands-on opportunities. Over 90% of our students begin world language classes in seventh grade, and classes in music, art, technology, physical education, and health provide a wealth of diverse experiences. For more information on course descriptions and specific academic departments, please visit the Guidance Department page.
Additionally, we have incorporated the use of laptop computers on carts, which are available to all classrooms. Radio frequency hubs that are located in classrooms connect the laptops to the server and allow access to appropriate Internet websites in order to extend classroom instruction. With opportunities to learn database, spreadsheet, windows technology, and content research, our students will be better prepared for secondary education, higher education, and employment
