About Us
We are a comprehensive institution, comprised of approximately 600 students and 37 certificated staff members. This intimate atmosphere allows us to provide a safe and effective learning environment. We offer standard college preparatory courses and opportunities to excel in honors, advanced placement, arts, and career academy (industrial survey, electronics, construction, water & environment) settings
ohn Swett High School also provides students an opportunity to participate in an award-winning band, drama, rally, and consistently successful athletic program. Students can express themselves in a number of clubs as well, including: science, drama, Christian, hip hop, California Scholarship Federation, cooking and ethnic. Opportunities to write for the school newspaper, participate in student government, or join organizations such as the California Scholarship Federation are available, too.
With a supportive alumni, and strong community voice (Crockett, Rodeo, the Foxboro section of Hercules, Port Costa), it is our goal to prepare students for post-high school life, whether it be college, the military, trades, or other endeavors. John Swett High School is definitely at the center of a traditional, hard-working, and socially conscious community. We are extremely proud of our former students that have and continue to make large contributions to society as a whole, including celebrities and athletes such as Super Bowl and Jets/Broncos kicker Jim Turner, former Gold Rush Cheerleader and Raiderette Shannon Burgess, action movie hero Aldo Ray (Green Berets), and rockers Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of the ground-breaking band “Green Day”. It should also be noted that many of our alumni have come back to John Swett High School in hopes of helping provide students with a memorable and meaningful high school experience.
We invite you to share in our traditions and contribute to our successes by phoning or visiting the campus and becoming actively involved as a student, parent, or valued community member. We are constantly seeking interested persons to participate in the JSHS School Site Council, Parent Teacher Student Association, and Band and Athletic Boosters.
