History:

On September 2,1995, King Kekaulike High School opened its doors to 385 freshman. In the September of 1996, the enrollment was 763 students with a student body of freshmen and sophomores. In the fall of 1997, school enrollment was 1,030 students with freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes. On August 31,1998, the school enrollment was 1,311 students: 432 freshmen, 327 sophomores, 292 juniors, and 260 seniors. The first class graduated in June of 1999. Our students come from the diverse communities of Ha'iku, Kula, Makawao, Pa'ia, and Pukalani on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii.The first increment of construction included sixteen classrooms,two science labs, an arts and crafts room, a computer resource lab, a special education resource center, shower and locker rooms, paved athletic courts,a student dining room, a faculty center, a temporary library, and administrative offices.The second increment of construction included thirteen new classrooms,two science labs, home economics labs for cooking and sewing, a business computer lab, a construction technology lab, and another faculty center.In the fall of 1997, the third increment opened with six more classrooms,two science labs, an art classroom, a library and media center, a band and chorus building, and two industrial education buildings.The fourth increment was ready in the fall of 1998. It included two more classroom buildings and a gymnasium which completed the school; thus, concluding the school's construction. Currently, in the school year of 2003-2004, we have approximately 1,400 students enrolled at our beautiful campus.
