Linganore High School, designated both a Maryland and National Blue Ribbon School, opened to meet the academic needs of what was then an agrarian community in the southern portion of Frederick County, Maryland. While serving the largest geographical area in the county, LHS is positioned along the traffic corridor connecting Baltimore to western Maryland and Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We serve many small residential populations, including New Market, Mt. Airy and Libertytown.
Our school provides a cohesive sense of community. Over the years we continue to build a strong tradition of academic achievement and success, earning the pride of the greater Lancer community.
The dedicated and highly skilled LHS staff takes great pride in our students’ accomplishments in the academic, performing arts and athletic arenas. Through the development of small learning communities, freshmen participate in our First-Year LEAP program, a transitional step between middle and high school. All students are connected with career pathway academies. A Trailblazer program encourages positive personal development for both students and parents.
