Purpose:
The purpose of every staff member at Mount Zion High School is to do whatever is necessary to equip our students to become productive, successful citizens.

Mission:
As educators, we believe that all students can learn; students have multiple types of intelligence; students learn at different rates; and students have varied learning styles.
Students learn most effectively when they are actively engaged in the learning process; they realize that learning is relevant to their daily lives, needs, and interest; they have a positive concept of themselves as individuals and of their unlimited capacity to learn; and they understand that the school's educational focus is the development of the whole student.

History:
Mount Zion High School opened its doors at the beginning of the 1989 - 1990 school year with Ms. Linda Jones serving as the first principal. In its inaugural year, the school shared the facilities at Morrow Middle School. After that first year, MZHS opened the doors of its permanent location at 2535 Mount Zion Parkway in Jonesboro, Georgia. With an addition of 12 classrooms in 1999, the school annually accommodates a student population of over 1,700.
