To all parents of teens who are not looking forward to going back to school in the fall, there is a wonderful charter school in Charlottesville, VA, Murray High School, that is now taking applications for admission for the fall of 2013.
Murray is a small accredited public high school, which has just celebrated its 20th Year!
Students are invited to interview and tour the school throughout the summer months. There are Murray students, parents, and teachers who are happy to meet with you to discuss our unique system of education.
At Murray we honor our students' hearts and respect their minds. Our classes are organized around projects to help students find their inner passion for learning.
Murray is the first Glasser Quality Public High School in the world. This means that it is based on the ideas of Dr. William Glasser -- Choice Theory, Reality Therapy, and Lead Management. Murray teachers work to create strong relationships based on respect and trust with their students. Students learn to work out conflicts and to take ownership of getting their work completed.
It is impossible to fail at Murray. Students are supported to continue working until they have earned at least a B on all assignments. This assures that students do not settle for mediocrity. Instead, they continue working toward mastery of the important skills they need to succeed on this planet in the 21st Century.
Murray students are attending four year colleges all over VA, and around the US. Murray grads have successfully attended such schools as PVCC, VCU, UVA, VPI, JMU, GMU, CNC, ODU, UNC, Wellesley College, and MIT.
Murray students talk about how much they look forward to coming to school now. They no longer dread homework. They participate in team building activities so they can get to know everyone and bond, creating a family atmosphere. They feel that Murray is, truly, THEIR school, not just a school for the staff, but a school for everyone involved, including parents, who are always welcome in our community.
