OLYMPIC HIGH SCHOOL GOALS
To afford opportunities for the enhancement of self esteem, recognizing that many Olympic students suffer from a fragile self image.
To maximize the opportunities for student-teacher interaction, both in class and on campus.
To offer opportunities for socialization among students of all races and ethnic backgrounds to create a sense of oneness and "community."
To consider the total range of learning modalities in developing and implementing instructional units.
To emphasize the positive always: positive attendance, the accrual of credits, the opportunity to graduate, the opportunity to learn vocational skills, the possibility of serving one's school and community.
To teach critical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially in relation to the choices that confront teenagers: drugs, dropping-out, careers, and interpersonal relationships.
To use student interest and initiative in shaping special programs and activities.
To present survival skills and to inculcate a belief in self-reliance.
To model responsibility for one's actions, including the acceptance of the consequences that result from the choices one makes.
To provide a highly relevant, engaging and focused curriculum which allows students to achieve State Standards and to gain an appreciation for lifelong learning.
