Park View is one of two 9-12 high schools in rural Mecklenburg County, Virginia (pop.~30,000). The school is located just west of the town of South Hill, which is 12 miles north of the VA/NC state line off of I-85. Opened in 1955, Park View has a faculty and staff of 70 and a student body of approximately 750. Park View operates on a 4x4 Block schedule offering approximately 144 classes of academic and vocational courses. In addition to AP courses, Park View offers Dual Enrollment courses in association with the local Community College. Academic extra-curricular clubs include Forensics, Debate, and Academic Challenge. Some additional clubs available are Astronomy, BETA, French, FBLA, FFA, FCCLA, Health Occupations, and Spanish. Park View has a very active band program which includes Concert, Marching, and Jazz Bands. Athletics offered are football, baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, softball, track, and volleyball. Flag Team and Cheerleading are also important components of the band and athletic offerings. Parents participate by being active in the PTA, Athletic/Academic Boosters, and Band Boosters. Many business partners donate time, money, and equipment rounding out the school environment.

The school has a rich tradition of academic excellence as well as championship sports teams, an award winning band, and supportive booster and parent organizations. Of special note are Park View's achievements in meeting state and federal educational benchmarks of excellence. The school is fully accredited in both Virginia Standards of Learning, and federal "No Child Left Behind" standards.
