The Pennsville Adult School is the only facility of its kind in the county of Salem. Adult School is an alternative way of acquiring a high school diploma.The Pennsville Adult School's mission is to provide a more flexible learning environment for those who choose an alternative route.

The Pennsville Adult High School best serves the following students:

1.Current high school dropouts at least 16 years of age, particularly students who have earned 60 or more credits;
2.Students possessing a 7th or 8th grade math and language arts ability;
3.Adults who work well independently and are self-motivated to attend classes;
4.Adults who have not had the opportunity to receive a formal high school diploma;
5.Individuals who wish to enroll in the armed forces, since most often GED diplomas are not accepted;
6.Students who are mandated by the courts to attend; and
7.Students involved in federal programs and who must attend 20 hours per week.

The Pennsville Adult High School provides morning and evening classes. Morning classes run from 8am to 12pm Monday through Friday.Evening classes run from 6pm to 8:30pm Monday through Thursday.Determining whether a student has day or evening classes will be at the discretion of the Supervisor of Adult School.Credits needed for a PMHS diploma are 120 credits.All Pennsville Adult High School students must take and score proficient of the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) in order to graduate.

Although there is no attendance policy at the Pennsville Adult High School, attendance is a factor in student success. Students are asked to stay a minimum of one hour per day.The longer students attend class, the greater their chances of completing courses and, therefore, earning credits.Aside from the minimal age of 16, there is no age barrier.The age range of students enrolled is between 16 and 60.On average, approximately 200 students enroll annually. Approximately 35 seniors will graduate each year.Students must re-enroll annually after July 1st.

The Pennsville Adult High School has a zero tolerance policy in regards to behavioral issues.Students who do not abide by the rules of the program will be asked to leave.The adult high school provides a great opportunity for those students who have fallen behind in course work due to personal, financial, and/ or medical issues.
