About Prairie Ridge High School:
-The school was created because the number of students in other schools was becoming too high.
-The district foresaw this and used a piece of land that they had previously purchased from a farmer.
-This land, which would later become Prairie Ridge High School, was just a field of corn at the time.
-The district contracted the Turner Construction company and on October 21st, 1995, the builders broke ground.
-A year before it opened, students who would later become the first graduating class of seniors at PR, voted for the name, color, and song for Prairie Ridge.
-The district approved the name and in 1997, Prairie Ridge High School was established.
-The first principal was Mr. Macke.
-Today Praire Ridge High School accepts all types of students from Crystal Lake, Cary, Prairie Grove, and even a thin strip on the edge of McHenry.
-It is hoped that our school will continue to shine with pride for many years to come.
