Welcome to Puyallup High School:
This is an exciting time to be a Puyallup High School Viking! For those of you who are not familiar with our school, we serve the needs of more than 1800 students in grades 10 through 12. Our school has an instructional staff of more than 100 teachers, and offers programs for college-bound students and those who plan to enter the world of work after graduation.
Success for all is our top priority. This year we have increased our time in advisory to twenty-five minutes twice a week to help our students adjust to the challenges of a large high school. We want our students to be proactive in the process of being successful and our advisory program offers every student the opportunity to do just that. This year we have added a new tool to the parent/ student communication. SWIFT is now available for parents to access information about your child's progress. Our website provides a direct link to this site. Please take advantage of this opportunity to partner with your child's teachers.
Puyallup High School offers several events that provide opportunities for parents to interact with the teaching staff. On Tuesday, October 10th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM, we will host Open House. This is an excellent opportunity to visit with your child's teachers to clarify individual classroom procedures and expectations. In addition, our fall Arena Conferences will be held on December 4th, and our Student-Led C20onferences will occur in January 29th, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
It is critical that all students get involved in some of the many activities Puyallup High School offers. Research has shown that students who are involved in extra-curricular opportunities do better in high school. Puyallup High School offers more than 40 clubs and activities for student participation.
Finally, Puyallup High School is a school that boasts more than 115 years of excellence in education; the first graduating class was in 1892! Together, we can continue to work to make Puyallup High School a great place for all students to learn, and develop into young adults we can all be proud of.
