Largest Minnesota All School Reunion to Draw Thousands

            Bobbie Socks, cords, buzz cuts, pigtails and long skirts will be the dress of the weekend when graduates rock ‘n roll during the Robbinsdale High School (RHS) all school reunion on October 18-20, 2013.  All former students, staff, teachers and community leaders associated with the school from 1936 to 1984 are invited to attend.  Site for the event is Robbinsdale High School (currently Robbinsdale Middle School).

            “More than 25,000 students attended Robbinsdale High School during this 48 year period,” said Mark Sorenson, chair of the Alumni Planning Committee.  “Our goal is to have each class well represented during the festivities.  Many of the former students became leaders in the community, the state and the nation, and all graduates helped make Robbinsdale High School an outstanding educational institution.  This all-class reunion will honor everyone.”

            Because the high school is associated with nearly everyone in the area, the all school celebration is open to the entire School District 281 area.  Each day of the three-day weekend will be filled with events.  They include:

·         Friday, October 18, 3-6 pm --Meet and greet with tours of grade schools, Sandburg Middle School and the former Robbinsdale High School building 5-9pm.  At 7 pm, a Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will honor former students who have achieved success in athletics.

 2013 1st ROBBINSDALE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME CLASS           include:  Dennis Claridge, 1959;  Don Dale, 1950;  Verne Gagne, 1943; Tom Heinonen, 1963;  Julian Hook, 1959;  Tom Loechler, 1958;  Len Lilyholm, 1959;  Irv Nerdahl, Coach;  Larry Peterson, 1961;  Cindy Sneddon , 1976;  Randy Sonnenfeld, 1976;  H.W. “Doc” Spurrier, Coach, Trainer, Athletic Director

·         Saturday, October 19, at the old RHS building, 11 am-4 pm -- Enjoy archival movie footage, memorabilia, story-telling, entertainment and social interaction.  

·         A program featuring former notable RHS students, teachers, administrators as well as civic leaders will be held at 1:30 pm, with Leah Beno (FOX 9) as Celebrity Guest.  The Robbinsdale City Band will perform and RHS building will be dedicated as an historical landmark by the Robbinsdale Historical Society.  In addition there will be an unveiling of a new large trophy case of RHS memorabilia and trophies as a permanent display at the former RHS.

·         Saturday, October 19, at the Medina Ballroom, 5-8:30 pm --DJ and music from the 40s-50s eras.  From 8:30-12:30pm "The Classics" will play music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s---PLUS some surprise local and national musical celebrities. A true world class entertainment event!

·         Sunday, October 20 at the old RHS, 8:30 am-noon -- Pancake breakfast.  10:30 am - 3 pm, a vintage car show featuring cars from the years RHS was open 1936-1982, with a trophy awarded.  Contact Bruce Middleton 763-550-1744 to enter your car.

            Food will be available at all events for purchase and there will be a $5 suggested donation at the door.  Reservations for the Medina Ballroom event can be made online at Robins.classquest.com or Robbinsdalehighschool.com.  The minimum charge is $19.36 per adult (12 and under ½ price).  Or send check to: RHS All Class Reunion, 8117 Iris Drive, Brooklyn Park MN.55428   Planners estimate that this event will be a sellout.
