The philosophy of Salem High School as a proactive educational agent in this community is to provide a comprehensive educational program that gives all students the opportunity to become productive citizens of society and to enhance the quality of their personal lives. Integrating the resources of the community, this program provides knowledge and skills and instills pride through individual achievement, enabling all students to realize their unique potential.

As a comprehensive high school, Salem High School offers a full complement of college preparatory level courses in language arts, mathematics, humanities, sciences and world languages as well as technologically enhanced courses related to the effective use of computers for research and graphic design.

Salem High School is well equipped to meet the technological demands of today’s education. We have computer labs with Internet access, an on-line media center, and three computer applications labs for graphic strands leading to specialized study related to digital imaging, desktop publishing, and image editing. We also offer a video production program. This provides instruction digital video editing with state of the art hardware and software.

Salem High School is one of only ten schools in New Jersey to be selected in the Inter-district Public School Choice Program sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education. The SHS Pathways program is unique in its development such that it is the only approved program in Camden, Gloucester, and Salem Counties, and one of only two like it in the entire state.
