The construction of the present Shade High School building was completed in 1960 following the joining of Shade Township and Central City Borough School Districts into Shade-Central City Union School District. In 1990 and 1991, the building was remodeled. The 1919 building was razed and a new section was built in its place. Most of the windows were removed, the gym entrance was refaced, and a new heating system was installed.
