Our Campus

Over the past three years, 21 classrooms have been added to the original 55-classroom, one-story campus to accommodate growing student enrollment and class-size reduction programs. A large multipurpose room serves as cafeteria and small assembly area. At lunch time the Associated Student Body holds pep rallies and other activities in the large central quad. Our Library Media Center houses over 20,000 volumes and has 26 computers available for student use. The computer lab has 30 computers available to the Sierra Vista High School students as well as students from the middle school next door. The art department has 21 computers in an art lab located adjacent to the art wing of the campus. The computers are equipped with the latest industry standard software and are used by the commercial art and photography students. The computer lab is open to all art students during and after school to work on their projects. The athletic areas include a gymnasium, outdoor pool, weight room, football and track and field stadium, soccer and softball fields, and basketball and tennis courts.

Safety

Sierra Vista has the reputation of being a safe campus. This has been enhanced by the efforts of the school district police officer assigned to Sierra Vista, three full-time campus security aides, and the consistent enforcement of the district and school dress code. Our school safety plan includes disaster procedures and regularly scheduled drills. Sierra Vista has been awarded a three-year School Community Policing Grant.

Technology

Most classrooms have three computers and a printer networked to the site and district servers. The district supplies a laptop computer to each teacher. All classrooms have Internet access and many have data projectors for use by teachers and students. The Business Department has three PC business labs. A Multimedia Lab with 37 computers is available for use by all classes. The Commercial Art facilities include two Macintosh labs for digital imaging, computer design, and video production. TVs and VCRs are mounted in all classrooms.

Curricular Pathways

Sierra Vista has a strong curriculum that is aligned to state standards and includes career pathways for Business Technology and Commercial Art. This year we are piloting the Health Careers pathway.
