Webster County High School was established in Upperglade, WV in 1974. It was the result of the consolidation of Cowen High School and Webster Springs High School. The two rival schools agreed on a new mascot (the Highlander) and new school colors (red and black). Mr. Daniel Bean took over as principal of the new school.
WCHS is a class AA school with a current enrollment of around 500 students in grades 9-12. Mrs. Paula Varney is the principal and Mr. Scott Cochran is the assistant.
