Westhill High School is a comprehensive four-year high school located adjacent to the western edge of the city of Syracuse. Seventy-four teachers, three guidance counselors, and two administrators serve Westhill’s 713 students. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all learners, from those at the skills level to students taking honors and college-level courses. More than 90% of our graduates go on to college. We are particularly proud of the fact that 93% of our June 2005 graduates earned a Regents Diploma. This is indicative of the achievement of a high educational standard and a statistic which may be among the best statewide. Along the way, a large majority of these graduates earned 3-year sequence in math, science, and foreign language. In June, 2005 Regents testing, with approximately 1500 exams administered, Westhill students had an overall pass rate of 95%.
Westhill High School offers an extensive co-curricular program, including over 25 different clubs and activities. The Drama Club presented The Last Gladiator in the fall. The musical Beauty and the Beast had four highly successful performances attended by more than 2700 people. Both shows were presented in our newly renovated auditorium.
The high school newspaper earned high honors from several organizations including a first place award from the American Scholastic Press Association.
The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble performed at the NYS School Music Association Major Ensemble Festival at Baker High School. The Symphonic Band received a Silver Medal and the Wind Ensemble received a Gold Medal.
